What does "Could not open default text font 'fixed'" mean?

The WebTerm X error message Could not open default text font 'Fixed'" indicates that WebTerm X was unable to read its fonts. Possible causes include:
1. You are using the superseded 1.0 version of WebTerm X in with a Windows NT 4.0's NTFS compressed volume. WebTerm X 1.0 was designed to work a disk with the fat 16 file system. Uncompress the fonts folder and restarting WebTerm X should resolve the problem. Also, you can upgrade from ve4rsion 1.0 to version 2.0.2 at no additional cost at:

2. The fonts index has become corrupt. Delete the fonts.dir files in the font folder and restart WebTerm X and it will attempt to re-index the fonts.
3. WebTerm X can not find its fonts because they are not in the /xserver/fonts folder. Re-install the fonts.
