Why can I not download the Plug-in using the JAR file on the Macintosh?
The JAR file is used to download the Plug-in for Netscape. The deployment using JAR files is transparent and seamless for the end users arriving at the WebTerm web page for the first time.
As of January 1, 2000, all JAR files need to be signed with the Netscape Object Signing Tool version 1.3. Therefore, to install one of these JAR files onto a Macintosh, Netscape Navigator/Communicator version 4.72 or later need to be used.
The error message generated is: "SmartUpdate failed: JAR archive has no installer file information."
If you see this error message you can either upgrade to version 4.72 or later, or install WebTerm version 1.5.1 using the traditional .hqx installer.
