Does WebTerm support keyboard Macros?

Yes, keyboard macro information is stored in the WebTerm Settings (WTS) file that you open or create.  Each WebTerm Settings file can have different keyboard macro information.  This can give you the ability to distribute web pages with different terminal window setups, and each one can have different keyboard macros.

Use the following steps to set a keyboard macro:

Open a WebTerm Settings (WTS) files.

Select Automation from WebTerm Administrator's Session menu.  The Automation Settings window displays; shown in the figure below.

Selct the Enable Keyboard Macros checkbox and click Edit Keyboard Macros.  The HotKeys Editor Window displays a PC keyboard; shown in the figure below.

Select a key to which you want to assign a macro, and then click the Macro button.  The Keyboard Macro Editor window displays; shown in the figure below.

The Keyboard Macro Editor window allows you to define automated tasks for the key you selected in the HotKeys editor window.

To Add a Keyboard macro sequence to a key:

  1. Select the Add button in the Keyboard Macro Editor window to start defining a macro for a key.  Several macro task options are displayed in a pop-up list.
  2. Select a macro task from the pop-up list.  The tasks are identified and explained in the table below.  You can use the lower box to edit, cut, copy, and paste text information for the selected macro task in this box.  In the lower box, you can add a description for the selected macro.
  3. After you have selected a macro task, click the Add button.  The selected macro displays in the macro task sequence box.
  4. Repeat steps one through three to assign another macro to a key.
  5. Click the Duplicate button to make a copy of the selected macro task.  To insert a macro task between two existing ones, select the first macro task.  Select the Duplicate button.  The first statement is duplicated beneath itself.  Select the copy and define the new macro task for it.  
  6. Click the trash button to delete a currently selected macro task item.  
  7. Click OK when you are finished defining a sequence of macro tasks for the key.

   Table Macro Tasks you can define for a key:

Macro Command Purpose Parameters 
OpenConnection Open the connection between the emulator window and the host specified in the current Telnet options. None
CloseConnection Close the connection between the emulator window and the host. None
Transmit Send a terminal command to the host. The terminal command you want to send to the host. To transmit special characters such as carriage return and function keys, click Insert Special... and select a special character from the list. Some characters appear as special internal codes in the text.
WaitForString Wait until a specified string comes over the data stream before continuing the macro. Waiting for the string to occur.
ClearTerminal Clear the terminal screen. None.
Reset Terminal Reset the terminal. None.
ResetConnection Reset the connection. None.
BreakConnection Break the connection. None.
Delay Delay before executing the next macro command. The number of ticks to wait (1 tick is 1/60th of a second).
Beep Make the standard beep sound for the selected terminal type None.
