WebTerm Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the WebTerm Administrator, Client, Plug-in, Active X Control, and ThinTerm?

The WebTerm Toolbox consists of the following components:

  • WebTerm Administrator: The WebTerm Administrator program is installed on an administrator's personal computer. It allows the ability to create, test, modify, and save terminal session files. The WebTerm Client uses this.
  • WebTerm Client: The WebTerm client is installed on end users personal computer. In conjunction with a Web browser or ThinTerm (both of which are containers for the WebTerm Client), it runs the terminal emulation sessions created by the WebTerm Administrator. It is provided in the following variations:
    • WebTerm Plug-in: Requires Netscape Navigator® version 4.0 or later or Microsoft® Internet Explorer version 4.0 or later.
    • WebTerm ActiveX Control: Requires Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or later for Microsoft ActiveX® support.
