What emulation environments can I use to connect to  5PM Term?

The following information describes the different environments you can connect to with 5PM Term and the tools that you will use in each environment.  

UNIX and VAX Connectivity:

The asc420/ANSI terminal tool in 5PM Term allows you to connect to almost any type of UNIX system, as well as to bulletin boards and mail services that use VT terminal emulation.  It provides emulation for VT400, VT100, VT220, VT320, VT52, and PC-ANSI terminals.  Connections can be made via TCP/IP, ADSP, direct serial connection and modem link.  Files can be transferred to and from the host using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

IBM Mainframe Connectivity:

The asc3270 terminal tool in 5PM Term allows you to connect to IBM mainframe systems using 3270 terminal emulation.  IT provides emulation for IBM-3278 Models one to five and IBM-3279 Models 2 and 3 terminals, as well as providing 3270TN support.  You can connect using the TCP/IP protocol to IBM computers running systems such as VM/CMS, MVS/TSO and CICS/VS.  Files can be transferred using IND$File or FTP.

AS/400 Connectivity:

The asc5250 terminal tool in 5PM Term allows you connect to IBM as/400 systems using 5250 terminal emulation.  It provides emulation for IBM-3477, IBM-3179, IBM-3180, IBM-3196, IBM-5291, and IBM-5251 terminals, as well as providing 5250TN support.  You can connect using the TCP/IP protocol and transfer files using FTP.
