White Pine Sells X-Server And Host Connectivity Business To Powerlan USA
Transition enables White Pine to fully focus on core visual communications strategy; Powerlan provides existing and future connectivity customers with the best resources and support available
White Pine Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: WPNE) today announced that it has sold its x-server and host connectivity business to Powerlan USA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Powerlan Limited (ASX: PWR). The transition to Powerlan includes the key employees of the connectivity business, led by Steve Roche, the business’ general manager.
"We are very pleased to have executed this transaction with Powerlan," stated Christine J. Cox, White Pine’s CFO and VP Finance. "Powerlan’s strategic direction and corporate values provide a perfect home for this business that is no longer a component of White Pine’s corporate focus. Powerlan will provide the existing host connectivity team with the opportunity to seamlessly transition our host connectivity customers to a new company, which will provide them with the resources and support their business warrants. Simultaneously, this deal enables White Pine to fully concentrate its own resources on integrated visual and audio communications and the tremendous opportunities in the emerging broadband market. Leveraging our developing application service provider (ASP) business will help promote our customers’ rapid deployment of unique applications such as videochat, video messaging, visual call centers and help desks on their web-based businesses."
Theo Baker, Managing director of Powerlan, added, "The range of connectivity products developed by White Pine has direct application to our business. These products allow for the multiple access via the internet to complex software applications. We believe Powerlan can further enhance the White Pine suite of connectivity products and integrate them as a key component of our own business strategy."
Like White Pine, Powerlan USA is based in New Hampshire. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
