Press Release
NASHUA, New Hampshire, January 22, 2002 --Powerlan USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Powerlan Ltd. (Australian Stock Exchange: PWR), announced today that its Connectivity Products Division has released a new version of its powerful X Server for Microsoft Windows. WebTerm X version 4.0 addresses key connectivity needs for Windows users by providing fast and easy access to a wealth of X Window applications on Unix and other host systems. Recognizing the burgeoning need for secure connectivity over insecure networks and the Internet, WebTerm X 4.0 incorporates Powerlan Ltd’s new TunnelMate security software, which provides Secure Shell (also known as SSH) services, making it simple and painless to securely run X applications over any IP network. Seamlessness is paramount in the design and evolution of WebTerm X. A primary benefit is how it integrates cleanly and easily into PC systems, hiding the underlying complexities of connectivity and security, giving the combined power of the Microsoft Windows and X Window environments.
TunnelMate provides Secure Shell services to an expanding variety of TCP/IP-based products and services. “Its special X protocol enhancements shield users from a variety of complex configuration problems that were commonplace before its marriage with WebTerm X. Our field testers have been raving about how simple secure X connectivity is with WebTerm X 4.0” states Steve Roche, Powerlan’s Chief Technology Officer. TunnelMate also seamlessly integrates with Windows Telnet, turning that program into a secure console that can be used standalone or in conjunction with WebTerm X and other X products. Beyond the capabilities essential to users of X Windows, TunnelMate provides secure terminal access to a wide variety of hosts including IBM Mainframes and Midranges. Secure tunneling of all major terminal protocol families (3270, 5250, VT) is provided through TunnelMate’s integration with Powerlan’s WebTerm product.
WebTerm X is available immediately. Get it electronically at www.powerlan-usa.com or from your nearest reseller or distributor. Site and enterprise licensing is also available for volume deployments. Companies with an alternative X Window Server product installed currently can take advantage of SPECIAL Trade-In discounts.
