5PM Term™ provides all the software you need for easy to use and configure VT420, TN3270, and TN5250 terminal emulation. However, certain hardware and operating system requirements must be met to insure problem-free operation.
NOTE: The evaluation copy of 5PM Term is designed to provide full functionality during your evaluation. It will, however, disconnect within fifteen minutes. Thank you for using 5PM™ from Powerlan USA, Inc.
5PM is a Macintosh software product that provides mission critical connectivity to a wide variety of host computers. The "5PM Term" application supports (and includes) a number of modular tools based on the Macintosh Communications Toolbox. Three tools -"asc420/ANSI", "asc3270", and "asc5250" - are "Terminal Tools" that provide access to Unix/VMS, IBM Mainframe, and AS/400 Midrange systems respectively. A "Connection Tool" called "TCPack" provides Telnet services for all of the terminal tools. There is also a "File Transfer Tool" called "asc$file" that supports the IBM-Mainframe standard IND$FILE protocol. A standalone application called "FTP Client" provides a complete, graphical front end for connecting to FTP servers. 5PM also provides extensive automation capabilities, including HotKeys, HotSpots, and Toolbar macros.

- Support has been added for new Apple Pro Keyboard (requires MacOS 9.0.4 or later)
- An updated version of the FTP Engine ("~FTP") has been included
- "Embedded Null" error has been fixed in 5250 emulator
- Fixed a problem that prevented the AS/400 FTP client from running properly
- Fixed problems with copying text from the VT420 review buffer
- Fixed a problem with the Delete key in 5250 emulation
- Fixed a problem with extra (null) character appended to text copied from terminal windows
- Fixed a problem with 3270 "Erase To Address" function
- Generic application icon should no longer appear after installation.
* Y2K Certified
Date functionality behaves consistently for dates prior to, during, and after the Year 2000. 5PM has been tested on Year 2000-Ready operating systems. For details, see our Web page at http//www.powerlan-usa.com/2000.html
* New Hardware and Software Compatibility
Version 3.5 adds support for all of the new Macintosh computers, all new releases of MacOS, USB keyboards and mice, and support for "asynch" USB serial port connections.
* 3270E Support (RFC2355)
This is an extended mode of 3270, and is important for some applications. Note that the 3287 Printing option is not currently available.
* Enhanced 5250 Remote SaveScreen
SaveScreen and RestoreScreen command processing has been improved to support applications that use these commands extensively. By default, data is now saved on the AS/400 instead of in a (local) resource file.

[4] INSTALLATION
The 5PM Installer installs the 5PM Term application, all Terminal, Connection and File Transfer tools, and a variety of supporting files.
1. If you are installing from CD, locate 5PM_Installer on the top-level of the CD.
Note If you do not already have the installer program, you can download it via http//www.powerlan-usa.com/5pmterm/5pm-eval-request.html . You will download a file called 5PM_Installer.hqx, which should be converted/restored as part of the download process to 5PM_Installer on your Macintosh.
2. Double-click the icon for 5PM_Installer.
3. Follow the instructions on your screen.
IMPORTANT NOTES
* You do not need a serial number to install; 5PM will ask you for one the first time you run the program. If you don't have a serial number, you may click the DEMO button to run 5PM for a 15-minute session.
* If you already have a serialized copy of version 3.5 of the 5PM Term application, replacing it will NOT serialize the new application. You will need to enter your original serial number in the newly installed application. For this reason, it is recommended that you keep a backup of the old application (i.e. don't replace it).
* If you want to keep a copy of the older communications tools either rename or move them from the Extensions folder before installing.

* Demo Mode
5PM runs in Demo mode for 15 minutes. To purchase a full license of 5PM or obtain a 30-day demo license that does not have the 15-minute limitation, please contact Powerlan USA Sales (contact information at end of document). If you have a demo serial number installed in 5PM and you purchase a full license, you don't need to reinstall; just enter the new serial number when the demo period expires (5PM will prompt you to enter it).
